The "Oratorio del Gonfalone" (Gonfalone Oratory) has been making music for more than four centuries, that is since it was inaugurated, towards the end of the sixteenth century, by the homonymous Archconfraternity because, among other things, Mass was sung there. If the profane music has been added to sacred music, it is because the original services and devotional functions of the Oratory have substituted, after the restoration of 1960 and the consequent resumption of activities, the predominantly cultural activities of the "Roman Choir", which Unforgettable chef Gastone Tosato founded and directed for over forty years.
The musical programming of the Gonfalone, aims to constitute a reference point for the execution of the Baroque repertoire, which more than any other finds its own architectural and pictorial context of the Oratory. At the same time, every year proposes a choice of programs inspired by specific themes or particular musical anniversaries. In the wake of the tradition consolidated by Maestro Tosato, the Gonfalone boasts its own chamber orchestra in residence, the "Gonfalone Ensemble", an instrumental organ with variable staff, formed by established musicians for years dedicated to the Baroque and classical repertoire performed with original instruments. On Sunday morning at 11 am at the Gonfalone you can attend the "Sunday concerts" at the Gonfalone, followed by a delicious aperitif.
