Built between 1905 and 1908, the building is the work of architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner. Inaugurated in 1908, it constitutes one of the most acclaimed works of Modernism in Catalonia making it a must visit for all who come to Barcelona. This architectural jewel of Catalan Art Nouveau is the only concert venue in this style to be listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997. Today represents an essential landmark in the cultural and social life of Catalonia. The exposed red brick and iron facade is decorated by mosaics by Lluís Bru that represents the members of the Orfeó Català and a massive sculptural group by Miquel Blay symbolising Catalan folk song music.
